Find your situation.

We’ve put the bigger vessel and group needs first — because crew medical should work around the way the vessel actually operates.

INDIVIDUAL CREW

Sometimes it’s just you.

Different problem. Same idea: start with where you are right now.

THE VESSEL LEAVES. DOES THE COVER?

Home-country medical isn’t always enough.

An Australian crew in Fiji. A US crew running to the Bahamas. A New Zealand crew cruising offshore. If your domestic cover works at home but the vessel travels, tell us where you actually need protection.

THE QUESTIONS CREW ACTUALLY ASK

Useful answers. Zero insurance theatre.

01

Does the vessel actually insure me?

A contract, P&I and personal medical cover are not necessarily the same thing.

02

I’m covered in Australia or New Zealand. What about Fiji?

Domestic healthcare may not follow you when the vessel starts cruising internationally.

03

I left the vessel. Am I still covered?

Employer or vessel arrangements can end when the contract ends. That gap catches crew out.

04

Worldwide excluding USA. What does that actually mean?

US-inclusive and worldwide-ex-US plans can work very differently — and the price can too.

05

Does P&I cover me on my day off?

Don’t assume vessel liability cover works like your own medical policy.

06

Why does medical evacuation matter?

When the right hospital is an aircraft ride away, evacuation can become one of the biggest exposures.

WORK HARD. GO EVERYWHERE.

Your medical cover should understand the assignment.

Surf days, tender runs, crossings, beach setups, diving, leave, new contracts and another country next week. Yacht life moves fast.

CREW MEDICAL, EXPLAINED

Questions we hear all the time.

Can you arrange cover for an entire vessel crew?+

Yes. Captains and managers can send us the crew size, operating area and current arrangement. HAML can then review suitable group options.

We manage several vessels. Can you handle different crew lists?+

That is exactly the type of conversation we want to have. The right structure depends on the vessels, crew makeup, geography and how crew join and leave.

Our crew have medical cover in their home country. Can we cover them only while travelling?+

There may be options for international or travel-related exposure, depending on nationality, residence, destination, trip pattern and eligibility. We can review the actual scenario rather than forcing everyone into the same plan.

Do I need my own cover if the vessel has P&I?+

Possibly. P&I and personal medical insurance are not interchangeable. The answer depends on the vessel arrangements, policy wording, contract and your circumstances.

What if I’m between vessels?+

A personal policy may help maintain continuity when vessel- or employer-provided arrangements stop.

Can I get worldwide cover including the USA?+

Depending on eligibility and plan availability, yes. US-inclusive cover is often priced differently because of the cost of US healthcare.
